Localization Engineer (immediate vacancy)
You are expected to provide technical support and manage software, web and multimedia localization projects for the Asian markets (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, etc.) 

The company is located in Singapore, with an international culture with Singaporeans working with staff from Japan, China, Malaysia, etc. 

Non-Singaporeans with localization experience are welcome.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide software support and manage software, website and multimedia localization projects for the Asian market (Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc.) 
  • Work with translators and graphic artist to localize software GUI, help, web sites and multimedia software. 
  • Set up test environment, compilation and Q/A. 
  • Software applications support on Windows, Mac (translation and localization tools, web tools, DTP tools, etc.) 
  • Support of NT network of PCs and Macs with Asian language operating systems (working with our systems integrator). 

Technology watch of latest localization, software development and web tools.

Requirements: 

  • Singaporeans or Malaysians. Non-Singaporeans must have good localization experience, and knowledge of Chinese or other Asian languages.

  • Knowledge of translation memory and localization tools. 
  • Knowledge of visual basic, windows UI and help compilation and localization.
  • Knowledge of web development tools (HTML, dreamweaver, java, flash, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of adobe and macromedia tools (e.g. photoshop, pagemaker, framemaker, premiere, etc.) a plus. 
  • Knowledge of windows NT, windows 2000, outlook support (Mac a plus) 
  • Project management skills 
Able to pick up new skills independently and find technical answers

Japanese Sales Representative
AsiaRain has put together a very strong Japanese to English technical translation team consisting of native Japanese and Singaporeans with strong English. In the words of our client in Japan, our solution features “good technical understanding, fluent English, lower cost than Japan.”
We are looking to expand our client base in Japan. The candidate should have the following strengths:
  A native Japanese who speaks English
  Good corporate sales experience
  Previous work experience in Singapore a definite advantage
  Previous sales experience in technical documentation, translation or printing industry a definite plus
  Integrity, honesty and professionalism
Several work arrangements are possible:
- Based in Japan (preferably Tokyo), selling to corporations in Japan on a commission basis
- Based in Singapore, selling to Japan corporations in Singapore on a salary + commission basis

Translators
We are always in the lookout for professional translators. Specializing in technical translations, our in-house team of translators works with freelance/contract native translators in country, specializing in different disciplines.
If you are an experienced translator, offering professional translations “on time, with quality”, you are most welcome to register with us. All translators should be prepared to take a test. Languages of special interest now are: Japanese to English, Thai and Vietnamese.
Whenever a full-time translator position opens up, our first consideration goes to our contract translators. Please indicate whether you wish to be considered for a permanent position in Singapore. (A Thai translator, Japanese to English and Simplified Chinese translator position may be available this year.)

Interpreters
We are often asked to provide interpretation services for conferences, meetings and training in Singapore and sometimes, in the Asian region (Malaysia, China, Hong Kong). If you are a professional consecutive or simultaneous interpreter, you are welcome to register with us. For a simultaneous interpreter based in Asia, please indicate whether you are prepared to fly into Singapore and if possible, indicate per diem rates.
